Choices of Character

The murderer in our thriller sequence was played by Ryan Moffitt, we chose him to play this part because he is an A level drama student and we thought that he would bring the best acting skills required to play the part. We thought that he fitted the right image for the character.

The victim was played by Nicolas Inzelmann, we thought he fitted the characters profile well because he looked young enough to be a school student, and was able to create the looks we needed.

The Janitor was played by Dan Ross, we waned a male character to play this part and luckily dan was willing to. We thought that he created the right image with all the useful and convincing props. His body structure fit the role convincingly.

Rough Cut

Here's our rough cut. We had to cut ALOT of footage to get the film into the time constraints, but we're happy with the end result.

feedback

feedback from media teacher is
  1. silence in the music using it to more effect
  2. ken burns effect on the last scene to keep distance from the boy
  3. cctv cut to change tapes to confuse and worry the audience  and mess with the clarity to give a more gritty effect

Presentation of film opening from Flight Plan-Hannah Mitford

It starts off making the audience jump with a quick movement of a train and the titles appear in white bold writing on a black background. It then changes to the next scene where you can see the back of a woman sitting alone in what looks like an underground station. The camera moves in closer towards the woman and the title of the film appear on the right again in white bold writing. The music makes the audience feel some suspicion about the woman because they haven't yet discovered her identity. The camera then switches to a mid shot of the woman and you se that she is upset probably in mourning because she is seen to be wearing black. The scenery behind the woman looks cold and damp.

Editing Techniques

Okay, I'm here today to explain to you the various editing and effects we will be using in the editing of our masterpi- I mean, film.

It took us roughly about one week to film our thriller opening sequence. We based our filming in the school bathrooms in the junior school. As a group we all nominated Ryan to be the director. We wrote our own theme music because we felt that it would be a lot easier to adapt it to fit our opening sequence. We edited the sequence using different formats such as, blurring it; using different colouring effects, and making it look like CCTV footage. We kept to our storyboard, but on some occasions we felt that some scenes needed to change. To help us get a better picture of what kind of scenery and setting we would be using we decided to take some pictures of some of the different scenes. We used a variety of software like Garage Band, and we used Final Cut Pro for our editing.

Character Profile - The Victim

Victim:

The victim is a student (actor: Nicolas Inzelmann) that is about 15 years old. He is in the bathroom and washing his hands, when he sees the murderer in the mirror. He is relaxed because he doesn’t know the person behind him is a murderer but after some time he realize it and is shocked. In the next shot he is dead and his blood is everywhere. The victim wears a school uniform (white shirt).
