Comments to shooting schedule

We filmed our opening sequence of the thriller in the lower school of Thomas Adams.

The murderer scene was made in the boys bathroom.

The cleaner was shown in the corridors of the school and in the bathroom too.

When the murderer escapes, he walks out of the bathroom, through the corridors and at the end he leaves the building and walks away from the main entrance of the school.

At the beginning of the movie, the murderer is also shown in a classroom in the college of Thomas Adams.

We chose these places for our film, because the viewers should realize that the main characters are students. It had nice images and places that we needed for our film.

We started filming on 12th of January 2010 and finished it at 26th of January 2010.

Character Profiles - Pictures

The Janitor(Daniel Ross).
The Killer(Ryan Moffitt).
The Victim(Nicolas Inzelmann).

The MacGuffin

If you have watched our film, you probably noticed a MacGuffin, cleverly(and to be honest accidentally) added in to keep you guessing.

The MacGuffin, which is the rather 'shady' movement of the janitor, was an originally accidental movement I did during the acting, but we kept it in and it later turned out to be a brilliant MacGuffin - the way the janitor moves makes him seem suspicious and a likely suspect in the murder.

Character profiles

Character profile of the killer:

The killer is a student (actor: Ryan Moffitt) that is about 17 years old.

He wears a school uniform (white shirt).

In his first shot you see an extreme close up of his eyes and his nose. You hear him breathing and the watcher realizes after some time that the opening sequence of the film is about his memory.

Between the different shots of other persons you always see the same extreme close up of the murderer until he has his first part in the movie, that supports the idea of the memory of him.

His first part in his own memory is when the victim is dead and he is walking in the background. In his next shots he is walking around the school till he leaves the building and but his rucksack away.

Character profile of the cleaner:

The cleaner is an adult (actor: Dan Ross).

He wears a uniform of a cleaner and his equipment is a mop, a bucket and a sign.

In his first shot he is just walking around the school and passes the boys bathroom.

In his second shot he is walking down a corridor and walking into the boys bathroom.

At his last shot the viewer can see him in the bathroom and see him finding the dead victim on the bathroom floor.

Choices of Character

The murderer in our thriller sequence was played by Ryan Moffitt, we chose him to play this part because he is an A level drama student and we thought that he would bring the best acting skills required to play the part. We thought that he fitted the right image for the character.

The victim was played by Nicolas Inzelmann, we thought he fitted the characters profile well because he looked young enough to be a school student, and was able to create the looks we needed.

The Janitor was played by Dan Ross, we waned a male character to play this part and luckily dan was willing to. We thought that he created the right image with all the useful and convincing props. His body structure fit the role convincingly.

Rough Cut

Here's our rough cut. We had to cut ALOT of footage to get the film into the time constraints, but we're happy with the end result.

feedback

feedback from media teacher is
  1. silence in the music using it to more effect
  2. ken burns effect on the last scene to keep distance from the boy
  3. cctv cut to change tapes to confuse and worry the audience  and mess with the clarity to give a more gritty effect
